NASA Prepares for Space Launch System Green Run Hot Fire

Teams at NASA’s Stennis Space Center near Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, are preparing for the last test of the eight-part Green Run test series for the core stage of NASA’s Space Launch System (SLS) rocket. The 212-foot-tall core stage is the largest rocket stage NASA has ever produced and will provide more than million pounds of thrust to launch NASA’s Artemis missions to the Moon. The comprehensive test series, or run, steadily brings the new, or “green,” core stage flight hardware to life for the first time. Green Run cumulates with a hot fire when all four RS-25 engines fire simultaneously. NASA is targeting the hot fire for as early as Jan. 16. For more information about SLS and Green Run, visit
